8th and Milez Grimez

8th and Milez

There's plenty to say about hip-hop artist and producer 8th (formerly known as 8th Wundah), the Rhode Island native who's been making serious moves in the music business for over a decade. 8th cut his teeth in local RI hip-hop scene before jumping into the national independent hip-hop landscape. Apathy, Onyx, Dilated Peoples, Kool G Rap, Cassidy, and the late great Guru of Gang Starr are just a few of the players 8th has worked with in the past. His skills as an emcee and producer have caught the attention of major leaguers like Atlantic Records' VP/A&R Mike Caren and G-Unit's A&R Andre McKenzie. 8th's online presence has also gained him recognition—most notably the controversial MCP battle between him and Dipset's in-house producer AraabMuzik. Since the video first surfaced in 2011, it's gotten over one millions views.

As of late, 8th has been working with up-and-comers M3, Milez Grimez, Urbalist, and Swann Notty, and notable producers Vertygo, Elji, and AraabMuzik to make some next-level rhymes for connoisseurs of rap. Stay tuned.

Milez Grimez made his debut in 2000, tearing up the stage during an open mic session at a Talib Kweli show. The crowd went berserk and that was all Milez needed to realize his future was in hip-hop. Not long after, Milez linked up with emcee and producer 8th (formerly known as 8th Wundah), which opened door after door for the aspiring artist. Since then, Milez has been pounding the pavement, grabbing the mic and seizing every opportunity to prove himself as a dominant emcee. His hard work and raw talent have earned him spots next to rap legends Rock (of Heltah Skeltah), Kool G Rap, Fredro Starr, and Crooked I (of Shady Records supergroup Slaughterhouse), as well as underground hard hitters Apathy, Ruste Juxx (Duck Down Records), and Shabaam Sahdeeq. Other notches on Grimez's belt were earned in recent victories, including Rhode Island's "Winter Wars" emcee battle and, more impressively, R.A. the Rugged Man's "Murderous Lyricist Competition," in which Milez beat out hundreds of competitors and earned votes and praise from over 20 well-known, highly respected panelists from the indie hip-hop community.

Moe Mentum

Moe

Bronx born and NJ bred, rapper Moe Mentum's respect for hip-hop runs deep, and continues to drive him as an emcee. While rap has always played a part in his identity, it wasn't until Moe Mentum moved away to Rhode Island for college and joined forces with fellow NJ emcee Urbalist that Moe made his first move as a true emcee. The two formed the group Hybrid H (later to be named Urbalist & Moe Mentum). The group recorded a full length LP, three mixtapes, and two college radio chart toppers: "2 Yutes" and "The Countdown" (both songs were produced by 8th Wundah). Later, Moe Mentum released two mixtapes as a solo artist and proud Puerto Rican called Last of the Moe-Ricans and Spanish Person In Charge (SPIC). Both generated solid buzz that had Moe moving forward; that is, until he was hit hard by the deaths of his father and grandfather and the cancer diagnosis of his good friend and comrade Urbalist.

But Moe Mentum is back, and he's ready to share his lyrical lessons with "whoever is willing
to listen."

Swann Notty

Swann

Swann Notty's smooth style and even flow are a salute to the rap kings of yesteryear who he admires most. His hip-hop journey began in 1997 with Rolette, the group he and Shawn Jackson formed. Roolette was featured on The Lyricist Lounge Pre-Tour Album and on numerous mixtapes. As a solo artist, Swann Notty released his first solo album 4 Steps with CNJ Records. The album's breakout single, "In The Game," was a big success with the hip-hop underground and college circuits. During this time, Swann Notty was chosen to represent his state of Rhode Island in the national Hip Hop Superstar contest put together by Sony Records and Xzibit. As a result, Swann Notty flew to Los Angeles and performed to an audience at the House of Blues.

Swann Notty has been featured on various mixtapes with heavy hitters from both coasts. In addition, he has released seven full-length albums: Limited Edition Vol. 1, Spotlight Official, Street Corner Curriculum, Tales of a Starving Artist, Classic Material, A View from a Thrown, and, most recently, Right and Exact. Yet more than his long list of accolades is Swann Notty's fervor for making music, which is apparent with every seamless rhyme that leaves his mouth.
